Parish School’s 60th Birthday

Holy Mass was celebrated with the whole school and the parish, on Thursday, 20th June 2024, for the feast of St Thomas More’s which normally falls on the 22nd June, and soon after the mass a new relief of sculpture of the Holy Family was blessed and the whole school was blessed, on the occasion of her 60th Birthday.

The Prayer written by Revered (Dr) Fr Prem Fernando, The Parish Priest, blessing the newly installed relief sculpture of the Holy Family at the entrance to the school ~ Thursday, 20th July 2024 celebrating the Patronal Feast of the School and the Parish which falls on the 22nd July.

Lord God, we ask you to bless this relief sculpture of the holy family placed on the wall at the entrance to our school. May the Holy Family that sought the will and wish of God above their own interest and welfare be the model and symbol of our school and for everyone who enter through these doors.  The model for every family, every person and every child. ‘The other presents God to me and is important’.

Bless our school, our children, their families, the headteacher and teachers, the governors, the assisting staff and all those involved with school. May this school be a blessing upon our parish, the village, the country we live in.

Bring peace, joy and hope to all those that pass by and see this relief. Inspire their hearts to pray, will and wish blessings upon the other and our children, the school, the parish and village. May those who donated this relief, and many others who help in many ways and work tirelessly for the good of the school be resembled in this relief and so be blessed.

May all those who are present here in this school and their service be pleasing to God, bringing God’s choicest blessing, grace and protection upon them and all to those passes by this relief entering through these doors of the school.

May almighty God, bless this relief, bringing protection, love and care above all to our children. We entrust our children and the school to the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph on her 60th Birthday and the Feast of her Patronal feast St Thomas More. May God bless this relief and bless us all, In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity – 18th – 25th January

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (18-25 January) has become a well-established yearly event. Its history is linked to Ignatius Spencer (1840), the first Lambeth Conference (1867), the encouragement of Pope Leo XIII (1894) and above all Paul Watson, who was the first to celebrate an “Octave for Church Unity”. From 1926 on, the Faith and Order movement has chosen its themes. Among Catholics, Paul Couturier was its first and tireless promoter (1935).

The week has been prepared jointly by the “Centre L’Unité Chrétienne” in Lyons and by the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC). Following the Second Vatican Council and its Decree Unitatis Redintegratio (1964), it has been prepared, from 1968 on, with texts provided by Faith and Order and by the Secretariat for Christian Unity. with occasional help from national bodies. The theme for 2001 – “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Light” (Jn 14:1-6) – originated in Romania.

On the Solemnity of the Conversion of Saint Paul, 25 January, the commemoration of the Conversion of Saint Paul, is the last day of the Week of Prayer; on that day the Holy Father all the Churches and Ecclesial Communities to gather with him for a common celebration of the word of God at the tomb of the Apostle, in the Patriarchal Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. (Continue reading click here)
